

Jerry was born on October 5, 1936, in Greenville, Texas to Annie Catherine and Joe Winfield Strader, Jr. Jerry began his lifelong career in the newspaper business as an 8-year-old delivery boy, and last distinguishably served as the president of the Community Newspaper Division of American Publishing Company. His skills in journalism were recognized with a first-place award by the Associated Press Association for his moving coverage of the John F. Kennedy assassination in 1963.
Having lived in Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Illinois, Jerry made friends and impacted lives wherever he went. He was an advocate for addiction recovery, foster care, and adoption, and always had a generous heart for those in need. His wit, wisdom, and encouragement will be missed, but the legacy of his Christian faith will continue for generations to come.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Karen Baker, and his second wife, Jean Cathey, and his brother, Dick Strader
Jerry is survived by his Children, Staci Taylor of Colleyville, and her husband, Jeff, Camille Quinn of Arlington, and her husband, Jim; grandchildren, Sam Taylor, and his wife, Natalie, Mary Taylor Doerstling, and her husband, Patrick, and Ellen Taylor.
He is also survived by a brother, Gene Strader, and his wife, Charlotte, of Sugarland, Texas, and sister, Carol Winans, and her husband, Howard, of Greenville, Texas.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, December 27, 2021, from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, located at 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, Texas 76034.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Church at the Cross Grapevine, where Jerry attended, with Pastor JR Vassar officiating.
Interment will be private.
