September 9, 1922 to November 11, 2019
Jewel was born in the Rio Grande Valley city of Mercedes, Texas. She spent her youth working on a farm settled by her immigrant parents from Japan. She had a rugged life on the farm, enduring many hardships, plowing fields, picking cotton, milking cows and after her mother passed an early age, she kept the farm going.
After graduating from high school, her father encouraged her to move to Dallas where her sister, Alice, lived. It was there she met her husband, Roy, and was happily married for 63 years until his death in 2010. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother, raising 4 children while Roy traveled the world as a petroleum engineer. Ever the kind, generous and caring Christian person she was, she spent all her days ministering love to all she met. Her presence on earth will be missed by all who knew her, she was deeply loved by both humans and animals.
The family extends a deep appreciation to the staff and employees of Dancing River and Envoy hospice team who filled her final chapter of life with love and cameraderie.
Survived by children: Karen and Lyndon Wells, Allan, Yue Yamamoto, Brad Yamamoto, grandchildren, Audrey Yamamoto, Damon O’Daniel and wife Michelle, great grand children Faith, Luke and Grace O’Daniel.
Family requests that in lieu of flowers please donate to Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org..
