She will always be remembered as a loving Wife, Mother, and friend to all that knew and loved her. Joan was born on July 7th, 1944 in Raton, New Mexico to Eugene and Ethel Garner. Joni grew up in a military family Her Father was in the air force and they moved all over the country. They lived in Florida, California, Michigan, South Dakota and even Hawaii where she went to high school. Mom was fortunate to have been exposed to a variety of experiences.
One of the things I think she liked best is, raising and showing horses, she excelled in many areas including barrel racing. Joni once held the National Junior barrel racing record. Some of the other things Joni enjoyed were, dancing, music, bowling, fast cars, art, gemology, horse racing (her favorite was the great Secretariat) and spending time with her girls.
Joni also had some interesting jobs along the way she was a black Jack dealer in Reno, a cocktail server and lounge singer in California, a bartending instructor in Houston.
Most importantly she was a wife and mother. The best one anybody could have had! Joni and Henry were together for 49 years. True love lasts a lifetime.
