J. E. was born July 14, 1929 in Fort Worth, Texas and lived most of his life in the Fort Worth area. He was one of three children born to John Everett Box and Ruby Gunter Box. He graduated from North Side High School in 1947. It was at North Side that he met his future bride, Betty Bryant. They were married December 7, 1947 and had two children, Randy Box and Stacey Box. J. E. and Betty celebrated 67 years of marriage until her death on December 24, 2014. He spent most of his life in the freight business here in Fort Worth and in Dallas. The last years of his career he was Executive Director of Dalworth Shippers Association in Dallas. Music was a large, and very important, part of J.E.’s life. After accepting Christ as a young man he was thereafter involved in the music of the church. He served in music ministries at Castleberry, Morningside, Hallmark and North Richland Hills Baptist Churches. Additionally, he was part of the Big State Quartet, the KingsMen Singers and the Crusaders Quartet. And, for many years, he was with The Corngrinders, a country western group that performed locally and around the state. He was gifted with a fine voice and he loved sharing it. He will be remembered fondly for his kind spirit and that lovely voice. J.E. was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; daughter, Stacey Diane; sister, Dorothy; and brother, Leroy. Left to cherish J.E. is his son, Randy Box, and wife, Karen; four nieces, cousins and so many friends
