I’d like to extend My deepest sympathies to Sam and John’s extended family at this extremely difficult time.
John and I knew each other over 7 years and I was fortunate to have worked with him at two different companies.  Meeting John for the first time, I was first impressed by his bone crushing handshake then amused by some of his corny sayings.  After working with him for only a short time, I noticed that John always went out of his way to acknowledge and to celebrate even the smallest success of anyone in our company.  We learned so much from John and in a short period our entire management team quickly adopted many of John’s corny sayings into our daily communication with each other and with our growing organization.
John’s career was extremely impactful as he spent over 30 yrs. advancing cutting edge life saving medicines in cancer therapeutics and later in gene therapy.  John’s leadership skills were beyond compare and he had an awe-inspiring network of friends and colleagues from California to the East Coast that were always able and wanting to lend him a hand.  He had a positive impact on the lives of all those with whom he came in contact and he will be terribly missed terribly.

Uncle Jon was truly a sweet soul. His kindness and genuine heart was a blessing to the family. He will be missed, very much. The Torres-Rodriguez family will be praying for peace and understanding during this difficult time. I send my deepest condolences.

My condolences to you and your family. It has been a true joy to have known John as a colleague, friend and unofficial brother. I will remember John for his positive outlook and willingness to help in any situation. He will be missed by all. 

I enjoyed knowing and working with John at Paragon and will miss his calls. So happy to have known him. He was a kind man and I will forever hear him saying “Rock N Roll”!  My sincere condolences to Sam and his family.   Will miss you John!

I cannot even begin to put into words how much my heart is hurting writing this. John was such a wonderful human being. John was kind, considerate, and had an amazing sense of humor; it was always a highlight of my day to give him and Sam a call and relay another exasperated tale of what either my kids or I had accidentally done. I would hear him laughing at my pain in the background and know that as long as I made him chuckle the amount of mess I had on my hands was worth it (for the story alone!). Truly, John was my mentor and a person I looked up to with the highest regard. When I needed advice, be it for career changes or major life events, I valued his opinion above all else and because Joey knows this he routinely asks me “what would John do?” when I am indecisive. You know when a friend becomes more like family? That is how I felt about John. I truly loved John as a friend, mentor, and part of my odd little family. I will miss him so much. Sam, I am here for you always. I am buying an extra cake pop for John today.

John is one of the best coworkers I have ever known. When I was a Scientist at Cytovance, he was always positive and asking how are you doing? Anything I can do to help? We remained in touch after we both left Cytovance and in my last discussion with him (about a month  ago) we talked about visiting him and Sam. So sad, to lose a friend and a mentor. My condolence to Sam and the Conner family. John Conner was a good man and touched my life positively.

I’ll always remember laughing it up with “Uncle” Jon during holidays in the past; his genuine kindness left a mark on our hearts.
The Rodriguez family and I give our most sincere condolences to your family. He will be missed. You are all in our prayers.

Dear Sam;

Sincere condolences from Lisa and I. I have so many fond memories of both you and John. So many years. I recall steak dinners in OKC, the 10K that John and I competed in together 😊 and celebrations at Cytovance. Chatting about muscle cars, and crab cakes in Baltimore. Through everything, John’s spirit, yours too, encouragement, support,  laughter. Love from the both of us. Tom and Lisa.
