Born and raised in Texas, John remained a true Texan no matter where life and work took him. He attended Texas Tech University and University of Texas at El Paso where he found his love for science and helping others through his work.
His work took him across the country starting in California, where he worked at USC and CancerVax developing life saving therapies. He then moved to Oklahoma where he worked at Cytovance Biologics a contract, development, manufacturing organization (CDMO). He worked with multiple companies developing therapeutics. Then work took him to the east coast to Paragon Bioservices, where he helped to grow the company in the Gene Therapy space eventually being bought by Catalent. He reconnected with a friend that was a former colleague, and joined the Deka Biosciences team as COO.
John enjoyed cooking, grilling BBQ, and fine dining, a true foodie. His love of sports including the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Tech athletics and LA Dodgers brought him much joy. He also loved to watch and play golf, although he never had time to play as much as he would like. He always joked that the homes we purchased were on a golf course, however he never got to play a round of golf at any of those courses.
He genuinely cared for all the people that he encountered. It didn’t matter if he only knew you for a brief period or if you were a lifelong friend or loved one, you were important to him.
He was preceded in eternal peace by his dear father Jack P. Conner. He will be remembered with love by his devoted wife Samantha Conner. He will missed by his mother Chizuko Conner, his brother Jack (Kellye) Conner, his son Jay (Alissa) and grandson Wyatt Conner. He will be fondly remembered by his brother in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and many friends and colleagues.
Psalm 73:24 (NIV) You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into Glory.
