

John Guthrie, 83, passed away peacefully in Southlake, Texas.
John was born in Fort Worth and raised in Weatherford, Texas. He attended Texas Christian University, where he earned a degree in business.
After graduating, he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for three years. Upon returning home, John continued his education and earned an MBA from Southern Methodist University.
With his natural green thumb and love of growing things, John earned a degree in Horticulture and began a long, fulfilling career with the City of Richardson, retiring as Superintendent of Horticulture after 30 years of dedicated service.
A devoted football fan, John especially loved cheering on the TCU Horned Frogs. He enjoyed attending games with his wife and friends and passed his passion for football on to his children and grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and John Guthrie of Weatherford, Texas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mollie; his daughters, Sarah and Karen and her husband Jeff; and his beloved grandchildren, Wesley, Drew, Avery, and Jack.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 COLLEYVILLE BLVD, COLLEYVILLE, TX 76034, followed by a committal from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM.
