John David Hammonds, M.D. of Hickory Creek, Texas, passed away on March 18th, 2019. He will always be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle and father. He was born on March 12th, 1964 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. John is survived by his beloved daughters, Olivia and Eliana Hammonds of Dallas, TX; his parents, David and Martha Hammonds, missionaries to El Salvador; his siblings, Jason Hammonds and wife Michelle, of Newark, TX, Julie Hammonds Witt and husband Matthew, of Waco, TX and Joanna Hammonds Ortiz and husband Frank of Springdale, AR; his nieces and nephews, Madison Adcock, Ainsley Pilawski, Ethan Norris, Hayden Hammonds, Aaron Rubio and Felicity Rubio; his great-niece, Adalyn Staples and great-nephews, Ellis, Cal and Owen Adcock.
John grew up in Amarillo, TX and received his doctorate in Medicine from Texas Tech in 1999. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas and practiced anesthesia at multiple DFW hospitals and surgery centers. In recent years, John served as Anesthesia Director, Consultant and Member to the Medical Executive Committee at North Texas Surgery Center. He loved being in the operating room and was passionate about providing the very best care for his patients. In his free time, he loved watching his girls play sports, enjoyed riding his BMW motorcycle, racing his Ford Raptor, shooting and hunting. John loved God. He was always happiest when surrounded by his family and friends, was a masterful storyteller and a mischievous tease. His beautiful daughters were his inspiration, pride and joy.
The visitation will be held from 6-8pm on March 22nd at the Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, March 23rd at the First United Methodist Church in Colleyville, Texas.
