

John D. Harmon, Jr., of North Richland Hills, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at home after a two year battle with cancer. He was a loving husband, father, friend and colleague to all that knew and loved him. He was born on 9/20/1955 in Dallas, Texas to John D.Harmon,Sr., and Carolyn (Lindy) Flanagan-Meeks. John is survived by his wife, Brenda Harmon and son John Holt Harmon and wife Sydney, two stepchildren; Jason Stonestreet, Jennifer Starkey and husband David Starkey; five grandchildren Faith, Ella, Hope, Jaxson and Caroline. Sister, Lynn Davoudian, husband Ali and family. Brother in law, Deryl Fontenot; Stepbrother, Mike McCormick, wife Sue and family and Stepsister, Jill McKeown, husband Mike and family. John deeply cherished life and the love of his family and friends. He was known for his calm, easygoing nature and a loyalty that was steadfast and true.
John valued time spent with those he loved and especially enjoyed sharing good times with friends. Music was a lifelong passion for John, and he appreciated all genres, taking great pleasure in attending live concerts whenever possible. He also found peace and joy in nature, particularly sunsets, the islands, and time spending time near the water. He loved traveling with his wife Brenda and among their favorite places to visit were Lake Tahoe and the Bahamas. John was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, and he also loved cheering on every local Pro Team and Texas college programs.
John greatly enjoyed classic films and was especially fond of John Wayne and watching the old western movies. Though often quiet, he possessed a sense of humor and delighted in making others laugh.
John will be remembered for his strength, kind spirit, and warm presence, as well as for a life well lived and shared generously with others.
A Celebration of Life Service for John will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
