He graduated from North Side High School and went on to build a long and dedicated career in the auto salvage industry. He served as Manager of Lone Star Foreign Auto Parts until his retirement.
On October 19, 1979, he married Jerle Baker Kirksey. Together, they made their home in Rockwall, Texas for many years. After retirement, they moved to Watauga, Texas. They enjoyed many years of travel and visiting with their great-grandchildren.
Neil was a proud and devoted member of the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite for over 50 years, as well as a member of the Shrine. His commitment to these organizations reflected his strong values, fellowship, and service to others. Neil also loved good ol country and western music and had been known to cut a rug back in the day.
He is survived by Leah Michelle Kirksey Hodges; Kathy Thompson; Susie Ford Jackson; Kristi Thompson Wallace; Kevin Mitchell Thompson; Adam Ford Jackson; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 3, 2026, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home.
