Joseph Edward Cousins

Joseph Edward Cousins (Joe) of Trophy Club, Texas, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024 at the age of 82.

Joe was born in Seymour, Texas, on June 23rd, 1942 to Henry Spencer Cousins and Laura Marie Swillings Cousins. After attending schools in both Seymour and Haskell, Texas, his family moved to Lake Jackson, Texas, where he graduated from Brazosport High School in 1960.

Joe served three years in the United States Army then attended the University of Houston, graduating with a degree in Human Resources.

On November 25, 1967 Joe married Jane Schermerhorn, the love of his life. They were inseparable for 57 years and supported each other in their careers while also enjoying many trips throughout the country and the world.

After college graduation, Joe began a 25 year career of working for Diamond Shamrock which later merged with Occidental Corporation. He and Jane had the opportunity to live and work in numerous locations including Houston, Baltimore, Cedartown, GA, Cleveland and finally moving to the home office in Dallas in 1980.

As a Texan born and bred, Joe loved Texas, golf, duck hunting, westerns, Carroll Dragon football and Jane, his devoted wife. He also had a soft spot for several furry friends (i.e. cats) over the years, treating each as the valuable family members they were, most recently Gracie and Yummy.

Joe is survived by wife Jane, several cousins, his sisters-in-law Renee Davis, Cile Seaman, brother-in-law Davide Seaman, a niece and 3 nephews as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A visitation honoring Joe will be held Tuesday, November 12th from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, Colleyville, Texas
