Judy was born in Houston, Texas on Feb 21,1942. She moved to Homestead, Florida with her parents when she was thirteen years old, and graduated from South Dade High School in 1959.
She married Captain David Joseph McKenna of the United States Air Force on January 10, 1963. Because of his military assignment, Dave and Judy soon set off on an epic 6,000 mile road trip from Homestead, Florida, through Lowell, Massachusetts, to Fairbanks, Alaska. They moved frequently to various bases in the United States and were stationed for two years in Philippines as well.
Throughout her life, Judy had several professions. She worked as a hair dresser, and as a Realtor for many years in Midwest City, Oklahoma. She then went back to school, and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in 1996, and worked in Special Education.
Judy loved gardening and frequently cultivated vegetables in her backyard. She also really enjoyed camping, and loved to cook for big family gatherings.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, David, in 2016. She is survived by her three sons, David Jr, John Wesley, and Stephen Lawrence, as well as her six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren (with two more great-grandchildren expected in 2023.)
A rosary prayer service and visitation for Julia will be held Monday, May 15, 2023 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, Texas 76034. The rosary will begin at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. A funeral will occur Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 11:30 AM at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 5201 Cross Timbers Road, Flower Mound, TX 75022. Julia will be laid to rest Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Dallas/Fort-Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
