Karen was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 10, 1945.
Karen graduated from Ft. Worth Christian School and received BS in psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University. She was married to Mike Waters Sr. on July 17, 1965.
Karen worked as an insurance underwriter and agency trainer for Allstate Insurance Company’s SW Regional Office for most of her professional career.
But she was always first and foremost a wife, sister, and mother who devoted herself to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a PTA president at every school her sons attended and tried to never miss a game or activity that involved her kids and grandkids.
She was the consummate mother-in-law and passionately put herself out there for them. Her friends and family knew and felt her relentless pursuit of friendship. Faith in Christ was the cornerstone of her life, and her life and her relationships were all built around that foundation. Everything she did, she did with passionate abandon.
She was a member of Compass Christian Church, taught Bible School for many years, and traveled abroad on multiple occasions performing short-term Christian missions. Her greatest gift was one on one relationships. She also loved to travel and did so extensively. She loved to take her grandchildren exciting places around the country.
She was survived by her husband, sons Mike Jr. and Warren, daughters-in-law Donna and Jennifer, and grandchildren Trey, MacKenzie, Garrett, Ethan, Ava, Grayson, and Lindsey, and Karen’s sister Jan McCoy.
