He also earned his Master in Business Administration from Babson College in 1982. After a beginning stint in cost accounting with Honeywell and Prime Computer, he took an opportunity with his father-in-law in Commercial Drywall and never looked back. He loved the industry and continued with it when his family relocated to Texas in 1996. He took a job with Integrated Interiors, Inc where he became a Vice President of the company. There he led many award-winning projects and served in various leadership roles within the Dallas/Fort Worth chapter of the Drywall & Acoustical Contractors Association. He retired from Integrated in March 2022 after over 40 years in the industry.
Karl was extremely proud of his Albanian heritage. He traveled to the country twice, most recently with his family and cousins right before his cancer diagnosis in 2018. He was a rabid New England sports fan and enjoyed many annual trips with the boys to golf courses all over the country – his favorite being his most recent trip to Pebble Beach in January 2022. He was an outstanding cook and loved hosting friends and family at his home. Smoking cigars and enjoying fine libations was also a treasured pastime. Karl and his wife shared a passion for travel and did so extensively. After 42 years of marriage, they recently returned to their favorite honeymoon spot on the Pacific Coast.
Karl is also survived by his brother, James Ekonomy of Natick, Massachusetts, his son-in-law Cody Tidwell, his grandson, Adrian Tidwell and several cousins and nieces. Karl is preceded in death by his father, William P. Ekonomy (1994), and his mother, Antonetta Verdy Ekonomy (2015).
