Rachael Kathleen Spencer was born near the Grayson-Collin County line in the community of Mantua in Collin County on July 23, 1917. She was the first born child of Lee Lumpkin England and Cynthia Caroline (Callie) Bradshaw England. She was affectionately known by all as "Kat". She went to school all over Grayson County moving from farm to farm during the Great Depression Era. She attended Rosemund Chapel, a Baptist Church and at the age of 11, was saved and baptised. After attending High School in Grayson County, she left for the Big City of Dallas, TX where she met Charles Goodwin Spencer. She was best known and remembered for her ability to talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime about the Lord and never met a stranger. She loved Bible Studies, Church functions and gardening. She really did have a "green thumb".
