With great sadness, we announce the passing of Kimblee Renee Easley-Bradshaw, long time resident of Bedford and retired Gate Agent with American Airlines. Kim died at the age of sixty one on Friday, fifth of August, in Baylor Hospital, Grapevine. She had been suffering for years from the damage to her lungs caused by by Acute Respiratory Distress and, since 2016, persistent Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia. In the end, her body could no longer support her beautiful heart and she passed peacefully, attended by her husband, Tom Bradshaw.
Kim was born on September 17, 1961, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the second child of Galen R. Easley and Wanda May Scott. She grew up in Tulsa, attending both Sidney Lanier and, later, Dwight D Eisenhower elementary schools, Woodrow Wilson junior high and graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1978. At each of these schools she made friendships which have lasted a lifetime, including the select group who refer to themselves as “the yak-yaks”. She then attended Oklahoma State University where, after working part time jobs during the class year and summers at her mother’s restaurant, she graduated with a BA in Elementary Education and accepted a job offer with the Ft Worth School District.
Just as she was about to start her first semester, she received another job offer, this one from American Airlines. Change of plans and career. Kim began working at the Reservation Center in 1986 and transferred to DFW airport in 1989, working primarily as a Gate Agent. She retired for medical reasons in 2019. While working at the airport, she met and began dating Tom Bradshaw, and, after a seven year engagement, they were married in 2000, in Maui, Hawaii. And Kim became a step mom to a son and daughter.
Throughout the course of her all too brief time on Earth, Kim charmed and made a friend of everyone she met. She was a beautiful, happy, caring person with an infectious laugh who showed compassion to all. The past six years of anger and vitriol have weighed heavily on her.
Kim loved her friends. And travel. And sitting on the beach with a good book and umbrella, sipping contentedly on a Bloody Mary. She loved tending her Plumeria. She loved a loud and angry thunderstorm and the softness of a quiet rainy afternoon. She loved her black cocker spaniel, Brandy, and grieved when old age took her away. And Teddy Bears, she has a whole spare bedroom filled with Teddy Bears. And foot rubs. Foot rubs are one of her favorite things. And she loved her annual trips with the yak-yaks, her oldest friends. Maybe most of all these past several years, she loves visiting with her new granddaughter. Lola. Whether Skyping or watching videos, Kimmie was enthralled by that sweet child and was so disappointed that she had not yet been able to meet her in person.
Kim was preceded in death by both of her parents, her mother, only last year. Also by her older brother, Galen Ray Jr., and her half sister, Coleen Michele. She is survived by her aunt, Juanita Scott; her uncle, Gary Easley and his wife, Janice; also by her mother’s long time companion, Pearson Galvin; and her beloved niece, Jamie Ashworth. She is also survived by her step daughter, Laura Smyer, husband Scott L. Smyer, and their daughter, Olivia Smyer and grandson, Colt Aiman Smyer; and her step son, Michael John Bradshaw, wife Jaci N. Bradshaw and their daughter, Lola Jane, Kim’s newest granddaughter. Lola has lost the grandmother she never met, but she has gained a Guardian Angel. Lastly, Kim has left behind her cherished Yak-Yak sisters; Jama Barron, Beverly Drew, Jeni Halliday, Donna Powell, Glenda Quinn and Tori Scott.
