The only thing Larry loved more than his country and his community was his family. He will be greatly missed by his mother, Helen, daughter Aaron and her husband, John, daughter Cayce and her husband, Billy, grandsons Jake, Will and Luke, and his dearest friend, Denise. Larry is now most certainly in the presence of Jesus, reunited with his father, Joe, and lifelong best friend, Johnny.
Born in 1946 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Larry graduated from Ardmore High School in 1965. He attended Central State University and proudly served as a Master Sergeant in the Air National Guard. He followed in his parents’ footsteps and worked his entire career for Southwestern Bell/AT&T. After moving to Texas in the late 80’s, Larry poured himself into the Grapevine community by serving on the Parks Board for many years, as a Volunteer in Police Service (VIPS), AMBUCS member, and devoted festival volunteer—numerous times being awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
Larry was generous, kind, tender-hearted, and a bit ornery. He will be grieved by many who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church in Grapevine at 12:00 pm.
Interment will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery later this summer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church Grapevine where Larry was a member.
