Laura Fay Kantz passed away peacefully on January 15, 2021. Her Lord and Savior took her home to spend eternity in Heaven. We know the angels rejoiced and her parents Wade and Zula Hamilton; brother Kerdeen Hamilton; sister, Charlean Tanton, and her husband, John Travis Kantz who loved her dearly for more than 60 years here on earth, were excited to welcome Fay home!
Fay lived life to the fullest! She loved deeply, laughed joyfully, and looked for the good in the people she knew and everyone she met. Fay was a good neighbor, a hard worker, and a passionate person who threw herself into whatever goals she set. In 1946, Fay soloed for her private pilot’s license while her husband was overseas serving in the army during WWII.
Fay worked from home keeping books for nine different businesses while her children were at school and late into the night while they slept. Later, she taught shorthand at Patricia Stevens Finishing School. She went on to start her own business, Kay-Michaels Modeling School in Fort Worth, Texas. Fay trained students to model and did some Public Relations work for Carswell AFB, KTVT, the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, and the Fort Worth Auto Show.
Fay gave so much of herself to her children by helping them with whatever they needed. She always enjoyed visits with her family, but never made them feel guilty if they fell “off the grid.” Fay’s most common goodbye was expressed this way: “Enjoy!” She wanted everyone to make the most of life, to move forward, to pursue their interest and dreams, to enjoy their work, and to love their family.
Fay is survived by her devoted companion, William Murdock, whom she traveled the world visiting 104 countries from Antarctica to Zimbabwe, and setting foot on 7 continents. She is also survived by her four children and their spouses, Roger Kantz and Mary Lou Little, Margaret and Wes Walloch, John and Gael Kantz, Mary Lou and Dennis Clark.
Fay’s grandchildren include Marty Dee Kantz, Terri Jean Givens, Kelly Jo Smolarek, Roger Travis Kantz, Jason Walloch, Michael Walloch, Tim Walloch, John Paul Kantz, Adam Kantz, Tonya Rose-Johnston, Sarah Rothwell, Jason Rose, Kevin Clark, Chase Clark, and Ryan Clark. Fay was blessed with 27 great-grandchildren. Fay's family and her friends are blessed with wonderful memories of times we shared with her. No matter the name you knew her by Miss Fay, Laura Fay, Colonel, Fay, or Honey, you knew for certain she loved you.
The immediate family will bury Fay at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1:00 pm on February 1, 2021. Fay’s Memorial Service will be held for family and invited guests at 3:00 pm the same day at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home and Chapel in Colleyville, Texas. Attendance is limited due to current COVID-19 restrictions.
