Ena and Chris,

I worked with Laurie as a Field Service Representative in the Washington, DC area; he was like a mentor and elder brother to me.  I offer you each my sincere condolences at this time and my prayers for continued healing.

Dear Ena and Chris,

 I will cherish the moments with Laurie, Bev, my brother and me growing up back home.  The fond childhood memories visiting their home whenever there was an event, those were the good 'ole' days.  

I always looked forward to attending the festivities.  My brother and I welcome the time we spent together.  As kids, our only interest was playing outdoor as long as possible, eat the best tasting foods and let's not forget the many fruit trees and one tree that bear the largest mangoes on that side of the island.  How time flies when we were having fun.

I am glad we were able to connect through emails and telephone calls over the last several years.  Our time spent not hardly long enough, but what I'll miss the most is that smile and cheerful laughter.

Rest in Peace my cousin Laurie, one day we'll meet again.

My friend and Chris, I am so sorry for your loss. Laurie was always so kind to me and shared his wisdom and advice when I most needed it. I would call to talk to you Ena and end up having a long conversation with Laurie instead. You and I used to laugh about it.
Yours is a beautiful love story which lasted over 50 years. You created an incredible family and raised a son any parent would be proud of. You home was always welcoming and filled with love and joy.

Dear Mrs. Wilmot & Chris,
 I was saddened to hear about the passing of your husband/dad. My sincere condolences to you and your family. I'm sorry I wasn't able to view the funeral service online earlier today. I'm sure it was a beautiful celebration of his life. I'll always remember when our youth group formed a choir. It was  one of our first rehearsals and we didn't have many male singers. So your husband's/dad's voice stood out. His voice was loud, strong, but off key.  And we all laughed together because he sang with all his heart!! I look back on those days with fond memories. 
Mrs. Wilmot, lean on the Lord! He will give you inner peace, comfort,  and the strength you need to live one day at a time.
And Christopher, your mom and dad are very proud of you! Not only have you honored your heavenly father, but you have also honored your earthly father.  Now that your dad has passed, you, and the life you live, is your dad's greatest legacy!
Mom and I will be praying for both of you. Things will not be the same, but you have each other for encouragement and support. And God has already dispatched his angels to watch over you and protect you at all times. God loves you and He always will!

Dear Ena and Chris,
I don’t think that we have to tell you how much you all mean to us. We became friends on the soccer field  over 45 years ago and we have remained friends ( more like family) ever since. You were always there for us when we needed you.  —We shared holidays and traditions. We shared good times and bad. We were always able to count on you. Laurie would fix things for us ( he got tired of looking at our sign bell out of order please knock). He came with his tools and fixed the bell.  You would bring hard dough bread for us and I would bring challah bread to you. —We will miss Laurie but we hope that he is at peace- We love you❤️🙏

My dearest Ena and Chris,

We are deeply saddened by Laurie’s passing and even more so that we cannot be there by your side to share in this time of remembrance and comfort. Please know that though distance separates us, our love, prayers, and thoughts are with you every step of the way.

To us, Laurie was never just a brother-in-law or an uncle. He was truly a brother and a cherished part of our family. His humor could light up a room, his calm spirit brought comfort in the hardest moments, and his heart carried a quiet strength that inspired us all. Laurie had a way of making those around him feel seen, valued, and cared for, and we will forever hold those memories close.

We will always remember how devoted he was to you, Ena—how faithfully he stood by you, encouraging and supporting you in every way. And Chris, the love and pride he carried for you as his son was evident to all. What a blessing to have shared life with such a peaceful soul whose legacy will continue through the love he poured into both of you.

Scripture assures us: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). Even in this painful time, we take comfort in knowing that Laurie rests in God’s perfect peace, and the love he gave so freely will never be lost. As Helen Keller so beautifully said, “What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” His presence remains with us always, in the memories we treasure and the love we continue to share.

Although we are unable to be there in person, please remember that you are not alone. We are holding you both in prayer, asking God to strengthen, comfort, and surround you with His peace. We will carry Laurie’s memory with us always, and he will be deeply missed.

Laurie was a man of God that expressed his love every time he spoke. He did not say much in Sunday school but when he did it was profound. He loved Ena . You could see every time he looked at her. He will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Laurie's passing. My condolences to you and your family.

He was a kind man. I worked with him in Global Service and Support@Abbott for several years before he retired. I also would occasionally see him out at local wealth management dinners. I was glad I got to see him when he came for the retiree visit the Dallas site hosted several months ago.  I am thankful I got to know him.

Laurie always had that wonderful smile! Whenever I needed to talk to him about anything, he was always so positive and upbeat.  We worked together for over 30 years at Abbott and he never lost that smile or spirit. Rest well my friend.

Chris Wilmont,

My stepfather always taught before he passed “when one hurts, we all hurt” and I want you to know we hurt with you even though Ib know the pain is much more significant within the family unit.  If it means anything, your father had to be immensely grateful for the son you are to him and the character you learned from his leadership. Your inner peace, tenacity, and strength are examples of this truth.

This is a difficult moment and you have the bond with you on this journey. Im a phone call away.

Tribute for a Beloved Brother-in- Law [Laurie Wilmot]

Although we were not bound by blood, I have always considered my dear brother-in-law [Laurie Wilmot], as a true brother and an invaluable part of our family.

His sense of humor touched everyone he met and his presence brought comfort into our lives.  He did not allow anything to bother him. I will always cherish memories we created, especially (whenever he dials my number for Ena and I answer, he would always say “your sister wants to speak to you” and I would respond “you mean your wife.” He would then burst out laughing).

Laurie was a wonderful partner to my sibling and a constant source of support, not just to her but to everyone around him. His peaceful soul made a significant impact, and the love he shared will forever be a part of us.

Even in this moment of celebrating Laurie’s life, I find comfort in the knowledge of the wonderful person he was and the lasting legacy of love he has left behind. 

Laurie will be deeply missed.  Although his absence leaves a profound void, his memory will be a treasure we carry on in our hearts.

I am so grateful that Laurie was a part of my journey through life.  He taught me how to play soccer, but more importantly, how to enjoy life.   I will never forget him hanging my sneaker out of the car while driving on the highway telling my mother to just relax.  He will be missed.
