She was born on August 15, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Calvin L. Wilson, Sr. and Elsie L. Boyd Wilson.
LaVonda graduated from Northwest High School in 1961 and was a devoted member of the Roanoke Tabernacle Church. Known affectionately by her grandchildren as “Grammy,” she exemplified the true spirit of Christianity through her kindness, patience, and unwavering strength. Her actions spoke louder than words as she dedicated herself to her family and community by showing compassion to all those she encountered. LaVonda found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, tending her garden, caring for animals, and spending time with family. Surrounded by loved ones, she went home to be with her husband of 59 years, Walter, leaving behind a legacy of love and memories that will be cherished forever.
She was preceded in death by her father, Calvin Lewis Wilson, Sr., mother, Elsie Lee Boyd Wilson, brother Charles Edwin Wilson, and husband, Walter Charlie McPherson of Roanoke, Texas.
LaVonda is survived by her brothers CL Wilson of Boyd, TX, and brother Bill and wife Jeanie Wilson of Springtown, TX.; son Terry and TJ McPherson of Sunset, TX; daughters Tracy and husband Michael Harvey of Decatur; and Tonya and husband Jeremy Tate of Arlington; and grandchildren, Lauren, Grant, Cayden, and Spencer.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 26th at 10:30 AM, at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas.
