Lucille Barksdale, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, passed away on June 17, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. She will always be remembered for her maternal love and sincere friendships. She was born on March 16, 1934, to Blanchard Rachal and Laura LaCaze in Many, Louisiana. She graduated from Many High in 1952 and has attended every class reunion. She married R.A. “Gene” Barksdale in 1952, and they lived in Fort Worth, Texas. Together they raised 4 children.
She leaves as her legacy 4 children: Patricia Ann (Billy Joe), Richard Allen (Gennie), Mary Lucille (Robert Edward) and Laura Lynn, 12 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory two brothers. Her children remember her as wonderful, loving, caring, compassionate and strong women.
Lucille was preceded in death by husband of 58 years, R.A. Barksdale, son, John, and daughter, Teresa.
She was a member of the Women’s Bowling Association, loved bowling and served as the League Secretary for many years. She served as military wife for 20 years through The Korean War, The Vietnam War, and other military actions. She lived in Illinois and Indiana.
Lucille’s final mass will be at home church of St. James Catholic Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas Friday, 6/22 at 10 am officiated by Father Juan Sardinas. Funeral services at Bluebonnet Hills in Colleyville, Texas: Visitation Friday, 6/22, 6-8 pm.
Visitation/Reception Saturday 1-3 pm immediately followed by Funeral Service in Chapel officiated by Robert Taylor. Interment will follow at The Memorial Park at 4pm. She will meet her final resting place next to her husband and two children in The Garden of Meditation at Bluebonnet Hill Memorial Park.
