Margaret was born in Paris, Texas, to Selma and Troy Brown. After graduating from Crozier Tech High School in Dallas, she married her sweetheart, Hillard, on January 15, 1956. Together, they raised three children and shared more than 46 years of marriage until his passing.
She dedicated 30 years of service to Webb Builders Hardware in Arlington before retiring in 2002. After retirement, Margaret moved to Hemphill, Texas, where she enjoyed the slower pace of country life. It was there she discovered her love for karaoke, quickly becoming a local favorite and even winning singing contests along the way.
In time, Margaret returned to the DFW area to be closer to her family. She found joy browsing estate sales, reading, playing bingo, working on puzzles and word finds, and cheering on the Iowa State Football team. But above all, her greatest happiness came from spending time with her loved ones.
Family was everything to Margaret. She was always excited to hear about her loved one’s milestones, updates, or anything in between. No accomplishment was too small for her to celebrate. She always made sure her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren knew just how proud she was of them. Margaret was their biggest cheerleader, always the loudest voice of encouragement.
Margaret gave so much of herself to her children. They always came first, no matter the circumstances. Even when things were tough, she made sure they had what they needed, even if it meant she had to go without. That was just who she was, selfless and full of love.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Hillard, and her parents, Selma and Troy Brown. She is survived by her three children: Alicia Polanovich (Steve), Jeffery Smith (Steve Flores), and Hillary Wreay (Terry); four grandchildren: Kevin McCorkle (Cary), Ashley Tran (John James), Walker Polanovich (Bri), and Brooke Wreay; and five great-grandchildren: Layla Tran, Jordan Tran, Taylor Tran, Mila McCorkle, and Matthew McCorkle. Margaret also leaves behind her sister Norma Tompson, brothers Troy and Donald Brown (Jean), several nieces and nephews, and her cherished dog, Diablo.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the incredible team at Halo Hospice, whose care and compassion brought comfort during such a difficult time. They also wish to thank the staff at Brookdale Eden Estates for their kindness and support over the years.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, Texas 76034. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, with interment at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
