Margie Kate Winstead Crow, 96, of Euless, Texas, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on June 3, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Cross City Church, in the City Room, 1000 Airport Frwy, Euless, Tx 76039. Visitation at 10 a.m. and Funeral at 11 a.m.
Margie was born on September 21, 1928, in the Spring Creek community near Weatherford, TX, to Clifton Harrington and Katye Lou Shaw Winstead. Margie was a graduate of Weatherford High School, and having excellent grades, went on to attend Weatherford College. She worked for Williamson Dickie in Fort Worth, until she met the love of her life, David Alvin Crow of Rotan, Texas. Each time David received a promotion from Southwestern Bell and later, AT&T, Margie accompanied her husband over the years, making a new home in 6 different cities,
Together they had four children, and with each succeeding move, they looked first for a house and second for a church to create a solid ground in Christ for their family. Margie, a member of Cross City Church (1st Baptist Euless) since 1966, taught Sunday School , ladies bible classes and even Training Union for pre-teens. She was a Blue Birds and Girl Scout leader as well.
She never met a stranger. Margie would be the first person to meet and greet a newcomer whether it was a new neighbor, a new member of the family or a new person at her church. She understood what it was like to be ‘new’ and she worked hard to ensure that people felt welcomed and not alone.
For fun, Margie enjoyed painting, playing piano, bridge, dominos and canasta. She loved taking her children and husband to explore the sites of every new city they called home. This started her love of history and collecting. Margie collected coins, stamps, glass and porcelain swans, demitasse cups and buttons. “There is so much history involved in collecting buttons,” she would say. Learning where they came from, how they were used and what they were made of took a lot of research. Her love for art came in handy when preparing to show her buttons in either a State or National Button Show. Buttons have to be mounted in a design, attached to a cardboard backing with telephone wire and framed in a shadow box.
Not only did Margie enjoy being a long-standing member of the Fort Worth Button Club, but she was also elected Historian of the club from 2004-2006, and club President from 2006-2007. At the same time (2005-2007) She served as the President of the Texas State Button Club. Margie gave numerous programs about button collecting whenever libraries, churches and women’s clubs requested a speaker.
Margie was also civic minded and served as The City of Euless’s beautification chairwoman from 1986-1991 . This included supervising landscape of outdoor “Welcome to Euless” signs and establishing the recycling program for the city.
Loving and caring for her family was her greatest joy. She was supportive of her husband and children in every way and was a rock whenever advice was needed.
She left in God’s care: children, Carolyn Crow Keeling, David A. Crow Jr, James M. Crow and Jack E. Crow. Grandchildren: Hunter D. Crow, Alexandra Crow, Katelin Keeling Johnson, Katherine Crow Bates. Great-grandchildren: 7, Niece and Nephew: Laura Crow Williams and Darryl Winstead, Aunt: Ruth Winstead
