Maria Antonia Hinojosa, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born on August 4, 1939, to Florentino and Conception Guzman in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Maria Antonia lived a life defined by love, faith, family, and devotion to those she held dear. She shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Raul Enrique Hinojosa, whose love and partnership were the foundation of their family. Together they raised five children and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and treasured traditions. Maria was also preceded in death by her husband, Raul, and her cherished granddaughter, Margarita Brooks.
Maria and Raul began their life together in Weslaco, Texas, before relocating to Euless, Texas, where they lovingly raised their family. After years of hard work and dedication, they retired to their small ranch in Beeville, Texas, where they enjoyed a peaceful life together until November 2025. Following Raul's passing in December 2025, Maria returned to Euless, where she remained close to her family and loved ones.
Maria's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children: Maria Isabel Balderas (Alberto), Marcela Brooks, Melba Breidenstein, Jose Hinojosa (Valerie), and Martha Birdwell (Carl).
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: David, Daniel, Sara, Jonas, Ben, Antonio, Joe, Carl, and Miranda, as well as 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense pride and happiness to her life.
She is also survived by her siblings, Rosa Guzman and Agustin Guzman, sister in heart, Delicia Campos, along with her niece Cristela Molina and many other beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Maria was known for her generous spirit and caring heart. She expressed her love through the simple but meaningful acts that brought people together: preparing delicious meals, baking for family gatherings, sewing with care, and tending to her garden. Whether sharing a meal around the table, or teaching a family recipe, Maria made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Her home was a place of comfort, and her family was the center of her world.
Though she will be deeply missed, Maria's legacy lives on in the values she instilled, the traditions she passed down, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness, strength, and unconditional love.
The family finds comfort in knowing that Maria and Raul are together again, reunited in eternal peace.
