Marilyn Kaye Downing Monts was born on July 6, 1942 in Hope, AR, a small town known as the Watermelon Capital of the World. Kaye was an only child of two wonderful parents. Her Mother sang in the church choir and rebuilt CB Radios in their basement while her Father was a Police Officer for Hope, a State Trooper for Arkansas and a Methodist Pastor. Kaye had a colorful childhood, she played the piano, was a Cheerleader, Rodeo Queen, a Barrel Racer and as a social animal who has stayed in touch with her Hope High School friends to this day, never missing a Reunion!
After her College days, Kaye started raising a family and quickly found ways to make a living from home, painting figurines and selling them from her garage, selling Avon and Tupperware, even doing Market Research. She soon found Real Estate and made a lifelong career, over 50 years, of selling, managing, being a Broker and owning her own company, Kaye Monts Metro, REALTORS.
Kaye was the President of her local real estate board and won every award they had, including Salesperson of the Year and REALTOR of the Year. She went on to serve for years at the state and national levels, where she is still revered today as the Guru of Professional Standards and her love for teaching others. Growing up in a Christian home, her Faith has always been a driving force for her and she served her church for many years, her favorite role being on the Prayer Worship Team at Gateway Church in Southlake!
Kaye's strongest Legacy lies within her family, instilling a strong belief in loving each other, staying strong in the face of adversity, continually trying new things and never giving up. Kaye's 3 children, Brooke, Clay and Tracey are the center of her whole world and have given her the greatest gifts of her life, her 5 unmatched Grandchildren and now 1 Great Grandson, with a precious Great Granddaughter on the way!
Kaye learned a lot from her life and more importantly, her faith, love and leadership has shaped so many other people to find the best in their lives! Kaye left a long trail for others with the footsteps of her life.
She will be greatly missed by all, but we all are blessed to have such a wonderful woman shaping our world.
