Mario Zamora, age 101, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026 in Southlake, Texas. He was born on April 5, 1925 in San Nicolas, Havana, Cuba to Jose Cleotilde Zamora and Maria de la Cruz Traviezo.
From a young age, he earned a deep trust from his father, who relied on him more than his older siblings to help run the family farm. After his parents passed, Mario carried that responsibility forward, working long hours with steady commitment despite being the youngest.
Mario was raised in San Nicolas and graduated from Instituto de Segunda Ensenanza de La Habana in 1938. He married Flora Zunilda Reyes in 1953 and the couple had one child. He was a Machine Operator at Felt Products Manufacturing Company (Fel-Pro) where he worked for more than 30 years.
In his spare time Mario enjoyed a life filled with curiosity and serious dedication. He loved to read, study, and expand his understanding of the world, often spending hours with a book, or encyclopedia in hand while seeking to understand how things work. His commitment to learning was reflected in his deep involvement with the Masons, where he proudly achieved a 32nd Degree - an accomplishment that spoke to his discipline, integrity, and devotion to personal growth.
His family and friends will always remember his dry humor, the resilient outlook shaped by his culture, the solid values he lived by, and the quiet wisdom that always seemed to surprise everyone.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Flora Zamora, his parents, and his three elderly brothers and a sister who lovingly raised him due to the early death of their parents.
Mario is survived by his daughter, Teresa Zamora Luna, and his son-in-law Armando Luna Jr., his three grandchildren Armando Luna III, Alexandra Luna, and Alec Marcel Luna. As well as several generations of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Mario's life is Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 1:30 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville TX 76034, with interment to follow beside his late wife, Flora, in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
