She was the oldest of five children born to Era Leah and Hiram Wilson. Raised on a farm, she learned the value of hard work. Her entire life consisted of caring for others, starting with her family and extending to all those around her. She was strong, self-reliant, relying on her strong Christian faith instilled by her mother. At 19, she met Clarence who mirrored her character based on faith, hard work and love of family. They married on June 11, 1943. While Clarence was serving in the Army in France during World War II, Mary completed her training at beauty school. Later she became a Mary Kay consultant and taught skin care classes in area high schools. In 1951 Mary, Clarence and their two children moved to Texas where Clarence began a long career at WBAP-TV. Mary was a Cub Scout leader, Brownie leader, Girl Scout leader, PTA officer, room mom, Sunday school teacher, Bible school teacher and church choir member. Mary and Clarence together faced a life that was full of hard work and challenges. They faced this life with a strong faith, resourcefulness, hard work and lots of love. Mary gave her children and grandchildren (and anyone else that would listen) a sense of God's love, God's purpose for us to love others, a sense of our own specialness and power. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence; her parents; her siblings; and her much-loved granddaughter, Amy E. Shewbart. Survivors: Son, Al Pugh and wife, Linda; daughter, Joanne Anderson and husband, John; grandchildren, Toby Pugh, Leah Mize and husband, Chad, Shelley Wilhelmson, Sara Anderson, Susan Walker, Scott Walker and wife, Shelley, and Jason Shewbart; great-grandchildren, Brady, Halle, Mallory, Charlie, Maggie, Taylor, Katie, Allison, Zach and Kristin.
