Mildred Jean (Disque) Seitz, 98, passed away peacefully on May 20th, 2025. Those who loved her also called her Ginger, Ginny, and Mimi.
Born and raised on the family farm in Hunlock Creek, Pennsylvania, Ginny was farm girl at heart. She loved the outdoors, hard work and animals of all kinds. She began her working career as a housekeeper for a local doctor and his wife at the tender age of 14. Her work ethic and determination to help others earned her a place as a nursing student at nearby Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Nursing School. After graduation, she enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Registered Nurse. Ginny was stationed at Lockbourne Air Force base in Columbus, Ohio, assigned to serve as RN in both the surgical and maternity units. It was in the surgical unit that she met her husband, Maury. He was a patient, and she was his nurse. They married while in the Air Force and Ginny soon left the Force with the rank of Captain. After their military service, they moved to Levittown, LI, NY to raise their four children. In 1977 they moved their family to Hurst, TX.
Ginny was a loving and dedicated wife of 67 years. She was always a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother "Mimi" to her ever-growing family. Ginny didn't drive while raising her children; so, they walked everywhere while Maury flew for American Airlines. She was an avid walker and continued to amaze everyone with her positive attitude, her huge smile, quick wit an her unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone who had the privilege of meeting her. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Maury, her parents Marion and Philip Disque, her brothers; Buddy, Frederick, Philip, Lewis, and Robert, and her sisters; Barbara, Marion, Ruth, and Margaret. She was the last surviving girl of 10 siblings.
She is survived by her four children, Linda Maureen Giese (Bill), Kevin Maurice Seitz (Karen), Patricia Ann Scott (Craig), and Cynthia Louise McMahon (Richard). Her memory will live on through her grandchildren, Jennilyn Harboe (Rene'), Ryan Giese (Nicole) and Megan Lewkowicz (Ryan). Mimi's love was shared by 6 great-grandchildren - Audri, Brady, Evan, Adam, Emily and Cooper. Her memory is a blessing, and may we carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. Her light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and friends at Ellery Arbor Memory Care in Colleyville, TX and Custom Care Hospice for the continuous love, care, and support.
