

Nan Tolle Newman was born on August 15, 1938, in Beaumont, Texas. She was the oldest daughter of Edna and Robert G Tolle. She spent her childhood years in Beaumont and graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont in 1955.
Nan began playing the piano at age 5, and had her first paying job at age 13 playing for the South Park Baptist Church. She attended Lamar University and graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science in Music. In 1957, Nan was a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers USA. She was also a member of Who’s Who among students in American Universities and Colleges from Lamar University in 1958-59. Nan married Don Dulaney Newman on May 28, 1959, at the First Baptist Church in Beaumont. They had two children. Don Keith Newman born in 1960 in Houston, and Robert Kendall Newman born in 1961, in Beaumont. She was a stay-at-home mom until they moved to Odessa in 1965, where she began teaching piano lessons and played for the Midland-Odessa Symphony until 1969, when they moved to Schulenburg. While in Schulenburg, she taught Reading in fifth through eight grades and sponsored the Shorthorn Cheerleaders, Pep-squad, and Shorthorn Bells. Nan was also the Pianist and Music Director for the First Baptist Church in Schulenburg. In 1989, Don and Nan moved to Houston, where Nan was a Pianist at Spring Branch Bible Church and became involved with Bible Study Fellowship where she was a BSF Leader for 14 years. In 2007, Nan and Don moved to North Richland Hills where the were members of First Baptist Church of Keller, and she weekly played Christian Hymns for residents at several nursing homes in the Northeast Tarrant County area.
Nan was called Home by the Lord on May 3, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Nan is survived by her two sons and wives. Keith and Sandi Newman of Southlake, and Kendall and Deb Newman of Magnolia and grandchildren Nathan and his wife Chelsea, Nicholas, Madison and her husband Hunter Williams and Jacob Newman; Sister Susan Young and her husband Leo. Nan was also the proud great-grandmother of Ned and Nolan Newman. She was aunt to Megan and Nathan Allen and Trey and Lauren Young, and she was great-aunt to Clara Allen.
The funeral service will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home at 5725 Colleyville Blvd in Colleyville, TX on Saturday May 21, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.
