Naomi Josephine Svochak, of Euless, TX, passed away on July 19,2021 in Bedford, Texas. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all that knew and loved her. She was born on September 27,1937 in Tuckerman Arkansas to Oland and Frances Blackburn.
Jo was raised on a farm in Jackson County, AR with 5 brothers and 3 sisters. She attended Tuckerman High School. After graduating she went to work at Revere Copper and Brass where she met Frank Svochak, They were married in Eureka Springs, AR and shortly after moved to Waco, TX. Jo and Frank had three children while in Waco, Jan, Frank Jr., and Jackie. They then moved the family to Dallas where they completed their family with the youngest child, Donna. In 1976 Frank and Jo moved the family to Euless, TX where together they built their forever home and started TruForm Optics. Jo also worked at that time at Emory Air Freight while helping Frank build the business. Frank developed cancer only four short years later and in 1982 Jo became a widow with four children, two of them barely out of high school. After Franks passing Jo assumed the role as President of TruForm Optics and maintained that position until her retirement in 2019. Jo's passion to help others was very evident in her service to TruForm and the (CLMA) Contact Lens Manufactures Association. She served on the CLMA board for many years and then became the first female president of the organization in 1999. In 2013 she received the Trailblazers Award, by the CLMA, for her outstanding achievement in product development to the enhancement of the contact lens industry.
This passion reached beyond the contact lens industry where she was actively involved in the Lions and Rotary clubs throughout the years. Jo loved helping others both young and old. She delivered Meals on Wheels in her community even while she herself used a cane for safe mobility. She loved Christmas time and lit up with joy while working the Angel Tree year after year. There as also a special place in her heart for The Clubhouse for Special Needs. She donated both money and time to make a lasting difference in the lives of special needs teens and young adults. Helping others to have a better quality life was at the core of Jo's existence.
