Dean was born in Casa Grande, Arizona on March 31, 1934. Dean was married to the love of her life, Willie “Boats” Ammons on August 26, 1949; they were married 67 wonderful years.
Dean grew up in Brownfield, Texas where she met her husband Boats. Early in their marriage, Boats joined the Coast Guard and they spent 21 years traveling the globe and making life-long friends. Dean was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially loved seeing old friends on their annual trips to the Coast Guard Reunion. Those of you that have been blessed to know Dean are aware of her spunky personality and her willingness to speak her mind (all in love, of course). She had a great love for her church and the Lord, crafting for herself, family, and friends, and splurging on her favorite Sonic drink: vanilla cream Dr. Peppers. Dean’s presence was truly a blessing to all that knew her.
Dean is survived by her husband Boats and their Yorkie puppy “Boo,” children Eddie and his wife Susan Ammons, Vicky and her husband Jerry Fortenberry, and Theresa and her husband Rick Mullins. She had eight grandchildren, Willie Clint Mitchell, Kara Darling, Carrie Nebgen, Christopher Ammons, Perrin Gordon, Linsey Mullins, Carter Mullins, and Brayden Mullins. She is also survived by three great grandchildren along with her sister Wanda Brown and several nieces and nephews.
Dean is preceded in death by her parents Tom & Zella Taylor, son Ricky Eugene Ammons, grandson Jacob Mullins, brothers Orville and Wayne Taylor, and sister Thelma Mae Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The American Heart Association. The family of Dean Ammons wishes to thank Alliance Community Fellowship for their outpouring of love, support, and prayers.
