Nelda Jo Figueroa, 77, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026.
Born on July 20, 1949, in Matador, Texas, Nelda was the beloved daughter of O.C. and Bettye Love. She was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she graduated from Del Norte High School in 1967.
That same year, Nelda married Joseph “Joe” Figueroa, Jr., beginning a marriage built on love, faith, and family that spanned nearly six decades. Together they raised three daughters, Tracey, Leslie, and Kelly.
Nelda dedicated much of her life to caring for her family as a homemaker while also working various jobs throughout the years. She found her greatest fulfillment not in titles or accomplishments, but in the people she loved. Whether she was preparing a favorite meal, cheering on a family member, or simply being there when someone needed her, Nelda gave of herself without hesitation.
Her family was the center of her world, and no role brought her more pride than being "Mimi." She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren, celebrating each milestone and making every visit feel special. Her love was steady, generous, and unmistakable, leaving each of them with memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
A devoted Christian, Nelda was known for her dependable nature, gentle heart, and unwavering faith. She was the kind of person others could count on - a loyal friend, a trusted confidant, and a source of comfort to those around her. More than anything, she will be remembered for the love she poured into her family and the example she set through a life of kindness, humility, and selflessness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, O.C. and Bettye Love; her brother, Freddie Lynn Love; her grandson, Dakota Lane Johnston; and her in-laws, Joe and Mary Figueroa.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Joe Figueroa, Jr.; her daughters, Tracey Boone (Jason), Leslie Donahue (Bill), and Kelly Johnston (Steve); her brother, Dave Love (Janice); her grandchildren, Haley Pollard (Justin), Chandler Alexander, Sierra Boone, Shelby Boone, Graci Johnston, and Cash Johnston; her great-grandsons, Luke Pollard and Elliott Eastman; and many other beloved relatives and friends who will forever treasure her memory.
Nelda's love lives on in the family she nurtured, the traditions she created, and the countless lives she touched with her caring spirit.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will continue through every meal shared, every family gathering, and every act of kindness inspired by her example.
Visitation will be held 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 9; A Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 am on Monday, August 10, both at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034.
