Nina Mae Connell Whitlock Haffke was born on March 14, 1924 in Wolfe City, Texas and passed away on June 8, 2021 in North Richland Hills, Texas at the age of 97 years. Funeral services to honor her life will be held on Tuesday June 15, 2021 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas. Visitation will be held from 2-3pm, the Funeral Service at 3pm, with Interment immediately following. Dr. Dale Schultz of St Paul United Methodist Church will officiate. Pallbearers are Christopher Whitlock, Eric Whitlock, Ben Turner, and Justin Bragg.
Nina is survived by her son, Scott Whitlock and wife, Pam of North Richland Hills, Texas. Grandchildren are Christopher Whitlock and wife Chassina of Keller, Texas...Amber Whitlock Tucker and husband Ben of Carthage, Texas.... Eric Whitlock and fiancé Chesare of Fort Worth, Texas….and Hayley Whitlock Bragg and husband Justin of Big Sandy, Texas. Great grandchildren are Kylee Tucker, Cason Tucker, Aidan Whitlock, and Payton Whitlock. She is also survived by a niece, Lisa Fallis....nephew, Kelly Connell....daughter-in-law, Cindy Lewis....brother-in-law, Gerald Whitlock, and other extended family members and friends. Nina was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Wallace Whitlock....2nd husband, Oscar Haffke, MD....son, Reed Whitlock....great grandson, Knox Tucker....parents, Charlie B. and Gussie Connell….brother, Charles Connell....and, sister, Molly Wileman.
While living on a dairy farm with her parents in Wolfe City, Texas, Nina met her 1st husband, Wallace at a skating rink. They married and eventually moved to Hurst, Texas, where they raised two sons, Reed and Scott. After Wallace's death in 1981, Nina was married to Oscar Haffke, MD, from 1983 until his death in 2004.
Nina Whitlock Haffke's purpose in life was being a mother and grandmother. She not only was a mother to Reed and Scott, but also became a "mother" to her daughters-in-law, Pam and Cindy, who loved her deeply. She was the absolute definition of a "grandmother." Her love and devotion to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called her "Gran" was special and unequalled.
Nina was a "Social Butterfly" who loved meeting and talking with people, and her big smile was infectious and illuminating! Previously, she was very active in both The NRH Senior Center and Dan Echols Senior Center. Nina had attended St. Paul Methodist Church in Hurst, Texas and had many friends at her residence at "The Good Place" in North Richland Hills, Texas
Nina Whitlock Haffke was an exceptional lady, who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Wee will always love and remember our "Gran." According to Nina, "THIS TOO SHALL PASS." Rest easy, sweet Gran.
