He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather as well as a friend and colleague to all that knew and loved him. He was born on July 30, 1937 in Weslaco, Texas to Homer and Opal Rutledge.
Ray graduated from Weslaco High School and later attended Hardin-Simmons University and Wayland Baptist University. After graduating high school Ray met and married Barbara Gale (Miller) Rutledge. They were married for 44 years prior to her passing in 2004. Ray spent all of his life working in the Automotive business as a Mechanic, Parts Salesman, Teacher, and as an Automotive A/C Salesman. He enjoyed camping, watching sports, and Square Dancing.
Ray is survived by daughter, Tandy (Rutledge) Girouard, of Bedford, Texas; daughter, Debra (Rutledge) Lucas, husband, Greg of Huntsville, Alabama; son, John Rutledge, of Mansfield, Texas; son, James Rutledge, wife, Jamie of Texarkana, Arkansas; and son, Charles Rutledge, wife, Darlene of Pensacola, Florida. He is also survived by grandchildren, Michael Girouard; Christopher Girouard, wife, Chesney; Kaneissa (Girouard) Pairett, husband, David; Kristine (Lucas) Massey, husband, Bryan; Chelsea Lucas; Ryan (Rutledge) Romero; Rena’ (Rutledge) Hartley, husband, Chris; Chad Harold; Sierra (Rutledge) Stephens; Taylor Rutledge, wife, Samantha; Tyler Rutledge, wife, Macey; Piper Rutledge; Jaylynn Rutledge; Joyce Rutledge; Carina Rutledge; Amber Rutledge; Brooke Rutledge; Charles Rutledge; and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving Ray is a brother, Dale Rutledge of Sinton, Texas and children, Darren Rutledge, wife Kathy and Connie (Rutledge) Beck, husband Josh; and, a sister, Sue Rutledge Littleton, husband Al Littleton of Houston, Texas and children, Charlene Littleton, husband Jim Brown and Troy Littleton. He was preceded in death by wife, Barbara Gale Rutledge and parents Homer and Opal Rutledge.
A Memorial Service and Interment for Ray will be scheduled at a later date which will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas.
