Norman Howard Kemp 88, of Haslet, Texas died Saturday, January 6, 2024.
He was born on May 7, 1935, in Fort Worth,Texas. He attended Polytechnic High School, and Arlington State College.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marzee Allen Dorsett, and Howard Wayne Kemp. Brothers James Kemp, Joe Kemp. He leaves his loving, devoted wife, Marilyn S. Kemp, married May 1st 1974 of 49yrs.,& 8 months, brother, Jack Kemp (Cindy) son, Danny (Karen) daughters, Donna (Jacky), Dana (Chris). 4 Grandchildren, 7 Great~grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in law, along with a host of special nieces and nephews in Texas and Tennessee.
Norman was a highly regarded professional engineer and a fearless entrepreneur. He started his first company, KETER, in the late '60s with his brother, Jimmy. Over the years, he established and managed several companies. He established Kemp Engineering Company, later in his career, and successfully managed it until he retired.
Norman was also an inventor. In 1968, he applied for his first patent for a device to seal a pipeline for pressure testing. These pressure caps are still in use today in the oil fields in Texas. He later applied and received patents for devices and processes that improved large scale printing presses. His inventions are still in use today.
Norman was an avid sportsman. He grew up in Fort Worth and caddied for some of the professional golfers of that era. He caddied regularly for Ben Hogan and eventually worked for Mr. Hogan building golf clubs. He was proud of that. Norman loved to play golf and was a very good golfer, he also loved boating and fishing. And at one time had a boat and built a beach house in Galveston, Texas. He was a card carrying member of the NRA and was always ready for a trip to the shooting range.
The Family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Staff of Oak Ridge Alzheimer’s Special Care Center, of Haltom City,Texas. Their care for Norm was immeasurable.
Visitation will be Friday, January 19, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home; Colleyville, Texas. Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 10:00am at Calvary Lutheran Church; North Richland Hills, Texas. Entombment will be at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
