

It is with sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother. Onita (MiMi). She died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, October 31st, 2025. She is now in her eternal home with the Lord. Onita is preceded in death by her husband Louis Coker and son, Alan Blake Coker. Onita was born on July 5th, 1934, to her loving parents. Malvin and Dora Cobb in Rogers, Texas. Onita spent her early years in Rogers before moving to the Cayuga, Texas where she graduated from high school. She acquired her undergraduate degree from north Texas State University in education. She later received her master's degree from Texas Woman's University in Early Childhood Education. Onita was a long-time resident of Richland Hills, TX. She was a member of Richland Hills Baptist Church, Library board member, and teacher in the Birdville School District where she taught many years at Holiday Heights Elementary. Onita was very creative with a passion for journaling, sewing, genealogy and watercolor painting. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. Upon retirement she and Louis spent many summers enjoying their cabin in Colorado where they loved to entertain family and friends. She later had opportunities for travel abroad and always looked forward to her next adventure. In 2017 she moved to Georgia to be near family where she attended First Baptist Church Peachtree City and enjoyed quilting and spending time with grandchildren. Onita is survived by her loving children, Connie Higdon and her husband Duane, Deirdre Coker who was the wife of Alan, David Coker and his wife Holly, granddaughters, Lacy Bennett and her husband Daniel; Ashton Gilbert and her husband Brandon; Londyn Coker; grandsons; Colton, Jacob, Callahan and Alton Coker: great-grandchildren; Emma Bennett; Jackson and Bryson Gilbert. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Linda Gerber, her loving nephew Steve Houston and many cousins
Visitation for Onita will be held Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral service will be Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 10:30 AM, 5725 Colleyville Boulevard, Colleyville, Texas 76034. Interment will be at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Boulevard, Colleyville, Texas 76034.st
