Vanessa was a loving wife and mother, a treasured daughter and sister, a loyal friend, and a beloved teacher to her students and the entire All Saint’s community. Tad Bird, Head of School, beautifully captured Vanessa’s spirit and the impact she had on the All Saint’s community and those who knew and loved her. From Tad Bird:
"Life is fleeting, we know, but this is shocking and takes each of us aback as Vanessa was so young and was so radiant. Most importantly and simply, she was a beautiful person.
Of keen mind, gentle soul, and vibrant personality, Vanessa served All Saints’ Episcopal School faithfully for 11 years and was named a Fort Worth Top Teacher in 2021. I know I speak for her colleagues and all our Saints by noting she should have earned Teacher of the Year honors every year she taught, and her peers would not have batted an eye, save for heartfelt applause because she embodied the best elements of her profession and the hallmarks of a Saint: Curiosity, kindness, selflessness, loyalty, intellectual and spiritual empathy, treating others with dignity and humanity, loving her neighbor as herself.
I love seeing my faculty in action throughout the day but I particularly enjoyed witnessing Vanessa with her students and peers, as there was always such joy, quiet confidence, humor, and wonderful repartee. Vanessa could encourage or move a child or colleague with an arch of her brow or beam of a smile. There was an aura of peace around her; she was an angel of grace.
Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate the bounty of God’s gifts in our lives. And while there may be a strong feeling of unfairness about this, I suggest we take a moment to give thanks for her comet in our lives. We cannot replace Vanessa, and I realize her students, her teammates and all our faculty, parents and community will be reeling for some time. The most important thing we can do is honor her legacy by taking care of her family and our students and carrying on the way she approached her profession and her School community."
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Eddie, children Christian and Annabelle, parents Gerardo and Patricia Castagnet, sister Nicole, brothers Gerard and Eduard; Mother-in-Law Theresa Morales, and sisters-in-law Monica and Anita and many other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 4:00 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, Texas 76034.
