Pauline Augusta Cave

Pauline “Polly”, "Grandma", "Ma Cave” Cave of Weatherford, Texas passed away on Tuesday February 20, 2018 in Weatherford, Texas. She will always be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family and as a compassionate friend and colleague to all that knew and loved her. She was born on August 10, 1931 in Corsicana, Texas to Paul and Vera Hable. Upon the deaths of her parents at the tender age of around 7 years old she went to live with her Aunt Mattie Patterson and was raised by Mattie on her farm outside of Athens, Texas. She graduated from Athens High School and attended SMU and then the University of Texas in Austin where she met and married Tom Cave and began their family.

Polly was an avid reader throughout her life averaging 3-4 books per week. Education was a very high priority to her as she trained and raised her five children. In the mid 70’s she returned to college completing her BA and then earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from UTA Arlington. Throughout the 70’s and 80’s she was very active and held leadership roles with the Tarrant County League of Women Voters and the Oakcrest Women’s Club in Hurst, Texas. In the mid 80’s Polly returned to the workforce as a Case Worker for the Attorney General’s office of Texas in child support enforcement and diligently fought for under-represented children and mothers in Tarrant County until she retired. Polly courageously faced many trials in her life and came to a deep trust and abiding faith in God through Jesus Christ who helped her to gain the final victory.

Pauline is survived by her daughter Betsy Kindred of Houston, TX (3 children, 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild), son Tom Jr. and Nancy Cave of Ft. Worth, TX (3 children, 4 grandchildren), son Paul and Kelly Cave of Weatherford, TX (1 child, 2 grandchildren), daughter Sarah and Melvin Ford (4 children, 2 grandchildren) and son John and Tammy Cave of Weatherford, TX (9 children, 16 grandchildren)… all of whom loved her dearly.

The visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday February 27, 2018 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in the chapel. Interment will follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park – Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
