Phyllis was born May 22, 1930, in Petoskey, Michigan to Lloyd and Gladys Beckett and grew up in Gaylord, Michigan.
She received her bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University and a master’s degree in education from Michigan State University. She was married and divorced from Robert McKillop. Phyllis taught for more than 30 years in several school districts in Michigan, Indiana, and Texas. She retired to Mt Pleasant, Michigan for several years and then moved to Northeast Tarrant County to be closer to her family.
Phyllis is survived by her son Gordon and his wife Margaret, son Larry and his wife Camille, and four grandchildren: Gordon’s children Cathryn and Kristina; and Larry’s children Ashley and Kaitlyn. She was preceded in death by ex-husband Robert McKillop, parents Lloyd and Gladys Beckett, Sisters June Stemm and Charlene Pratt, and Brother Bob Beckett.
