

Rafael Chavez of Bedford, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on June 23 surrounded by his loving family. Born April 17, 1952, in La Punta, Callao, Peru, to Edward E. Chavez and Eulalia Vergara. He moved to the United States at 19 and founded Cosmos Cleaning Company with his wife and brother, which provided more than 350 jobs at its height. He also started a successful Peruvian restaurant with his wife named the Costa Verde.
He is remembered as a true renaissance man; he had a passion for reading history, gardening, discussing current events, soccer, traveling, and, most importantly, spending time with family and friends.
He is preceded by his mother, father, and his brother, Eduardo Chavez. He is survived by his beloved wife, Giuliana Chavez; his sister, Sara Chavez, and her husband Bernard Husson; his three children: Cecilia Chavez, Michael Chavez and his wife Jennifer Chavez, and Stephanie Daubendiek and her husband Dan Daubendiek; six grandchildren: Savannah Chavez, Jordan Gonyea, Ava Chavez, Kendall Day, Katelynn Russey-Thyes, and Isolina Daubendiek; and one great-grandchild, Olivia Russey-Thyes.
A viewing will be held on Friday June 26 at 12 noon with a service to follow at 2 pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville. A livestream will also be available at the link below:
