Ralph C. Kinchen, Jr., 72, of Euless, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020. He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 1, 1948 of Marian Lucielle and Ralph C. Kinchen. The Kinchen family later moved to Detroit, MI.
In 1965, Ralph met his first wife Toni Ann Foster at her father’s gas station where he worked. Ralph and Toni later attended Wilberforce University in Ohio. They had three children, Scott Alexander, Marc Christopher and Kymberly Nicole. In 1973, "Ralph Kinchen’s Teen Man" was established. Ralph was the first African American to own a retail store in a major shopping mall, Northland Mall, in Southfield, MI.
In 1981, Ralph married Ramona E. White and relocated to Dallas, Texas. On July 1, 1982, his birthday, Jonathon Bernard was born. Being a salesman at heart, Ralph transitioned from clothes to cars. He spent most of his career working for Grubbs Nissan and Infiniti. Ralph achieved many sales awards and created long lasting relationships with customers and colleagues who later became some of his best friends.
“Big Ralph,” as he was affectionately called, was one of the most generous men you would ever meet. He would literally give you the clothes off his back, or his last two dollars. What Ralph did not know, was that he was everyone’s gift. He welcomed everyone and loved everyone.
Ralph had a special bond with each of his children and grandchildren. He was Scott’s brand ambassador for Infinity Vodka and his other liquor brands. He has been to more of Marc’s shows than you could even imagine. Ralph was the true definition of a “girl dad” to Kym and he and Jonathon shared a love for horse racing. Ralph was the ultimate grandfather to Peyton “Pey Pey”, Charlee, Colin, Austin, Ryker, Kingston and River.
Ralph is survived by his children, Scott (Shammah) Kinchen, Marc (Stephanie) Kinchen, Kymberly (Michael) Reeves, and Jonathon Kinchen; his sisters, Marilyn (Lorenzo) Todd and Nancy (Edward) Moorman. He is now reunited in heaven with his mother, father, sister Carol and brother David. Ralph is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Gene (Tanya) Todd, Larry Todd, Wesley (Joy) Todd, Melissa (Lionel) Rodgers, Melanie (Dereck) Love, John (Susan) Hotchkiss, David and Sydney Kinchen, Courtenay and Clifton Gregory and William Freeman.
The Kinchen family would like to thank Cathy Peters for her love and commitment to caring for and supporting our beloved Ralph for the past three years. Words cannot express how much we love and appreciate you.
