Ralph Villarreal, aged 85, passed away on October 21, 2023, at home in North Richland Hills, Texas, surrounded by his beloved family. Ralph was born on July 11, 1938, to Daniel Sanchez Villarreal and Eloisa Trevino, and his life was a testament to dedication, service, and love.
Ralph was a devoted husband and a loving father. He completed his high school education at Fox Tech before embarking on a 21-year career in the Navy, where he rose to the esteemed rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. His service led him to various locations, including Houston, Los Alamitos, CA, and Chicago, IL.
After his distinguished naval career, Ralph pursued his education, earning an Associate degree in business from Tarrant County Junior College.
Following his retirement from the Navy, Ralph joined Vought's engineering group, where he continued to make meaningful contributions for two more decades before retiring in 1995. His role as Supervisor of Aircraft Support at Vought allowed him to build lasting friendships with colleagues such as Hugh Butler, Vernon Hove, and many others.
Ralph's love story with his wife, Nancy, spanned 62 years, beginning with a chance introduction by his cousin. They dated for three years before uniting in marriage at St. Henry Catholic Church. Together, they were blessed with four daughters: Gloria Paul, Diane Kleen, Adinah Thomas, and Catherine Batson, all of whom have found happiness in their own marriages. Ralph's legacy extended to seven cherished grandchildren, including Jessica Paul, Gabriela Paul, Weston Paul, Carson Paul, Ann Marie Ingram, Emily Ingram, Lucas Kleen and John Foster. He also welcomed one great-grandchild, Brielle Drews.
In addition to his immediate family, Ralph was part of a large, close-knit extended family that included eight siblings. Though he was predeceased by four of them, including baby Danny Villarreal, Frankie Villarreal, Daniel Villarreal, and Norma Villarreal, he is survived by Mary Louise Cantu, Richard Villarreal, Anthony Villarreal, and Irma Worley.
Ralph's passions in life were as diverse as his experiences. He enjoyed the game of golf for many years and was known for preparing some of the finest beef ribs in Texas. His intellectual curiosity was evident in his love for reading, history, and politics. Engaging in thoughtful debates on current issues was a joy he relished, all while retaining an impressive wealth of knowledge. Ralph was a kind and caring man, who cherished western TV, a friendly game of dominoes, and, most of all, the knowledge that his daughters had blossomed into beautiful and successful women. He shared a profound love with his wife, Nancy Barbosa, and their extensive family.
Nancy held a special place in her heart for Ralph's unwavering devotion to family and his deep love for his children and their families. Ralph's simple joys included savoring a good cigar and a cold beer.
Ralph Villarreal's life was a testament to service, love, and the enduring bonds of family. His legacy lives on through the memories of those who were fortunate enough to know him. In his honor, let us remember his kindness, passion, and unwavering commitment to the people he held dear.
In lieu of flowers, Ralph enjoyed watching mass on Sunday mornings with Nancy and we would appreciate any donations supporting this program.
