Raman Leonard Chandler, Jr. passed away on May 16, 2026, in Collierville, Tennessee. He was born April 9, 1943, in Lennox, California.
Raman spent his childhood growing up in Dalhart, Texas. He developed a strong respect for being self-sufficient and the fortitude to weather any storm as he matured working on the family ranch and farm with his parents and siblings.
Raman pursued his undergraduate education at Bethany Nazarene College where he met his wife, Dian. Early in their marriage, he made the decision to return to school to become an attorney. He began a roofing business to support his young family and pay for his law school education at Southern Methodist University.
After graduating and working as an attorney, he decided to pursue something different. He began work in commercial real estate and proceeded to become a real estate developer, establishing his lifelong profession. He was raised to value land, and this became the basis for his career.
Outside of his career, Ray enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, golfing, going on drives, and spending time with friends and family. He and his wife, Dian, also enjoyed traveling and collecting art and antiques on their trips. When at home, you could find him rooting for his favorite teams anytime they were on TV.
Ray was a devoted Christian throughout his life and was actively involved in both the Nazarene Church and Bedford United Methodist Church. It was a blessing to his family to see his continued devotion to God through all of life’s ups and downs.
May his memory bring peace and comfort to those who mourn his passing. A memorial service will be held for Ray on July 18th at 10:00 a.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park at 5725 Colleyville. Blvd., Colleyville, Texas 76034.
