She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. Rena delighted in watching Hallmark Christmas movies year-round, embracing their messages of hope, love, and happy endings. She also enjoyed reading and traveling, finding peace in quiet moments and joy in new experiences. Her gentle yet vibrant spirit uplifted everyone around her.
Professionally, Rena devoted her career to service as a Human Resources Specialist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division, where she worked with excellence, integrity, and care until her retirement in 2012. Her contributions and dedication left a lasting impression on colleagues and all who had the privilege of working alongside her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles E. Whitlock; her father, Rev. John H. Ford, Sr.; and her brother, Joe Ford Sr.

Ford; her devoted daughters, Dr. LaShaunda Ford, Tyesha Whitlock, and Jessica Lee; her cherished siblings, James Ford, Deborah Denson, Audrey Moore, Rita Morris, and Rev. John Ford, Jr.; along with a host of beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren who proudly called her “Nana,” and extended family and dear friends whose lives were touched by her love and radiant spirit.
