Richard Carlton Henschel

Richard C. Henschel, 82, left us on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, in Good Shepherd Catholic Community, 1000 Tinker Road, Colleyville, 76034, with Fr. Richard Eldredge as celebrant. Vigil and Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at Good Shepherd Catholic Community. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park with military honors. Richard was born Aug.16, 1933, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Emil J. and Elizabeth C. Russ Henschel. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He graduated from TCU and started his career with General Dynamics. He later moved to Bell Helicopter where he retired as Vice President of the Electrical and Avionics division - Canada. Poppie was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend. His legacy will live on with all who knew him. He was a proud member of the Widowed Persons Support Group. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Erma Jean Henschel in 2013; and six siblings. Surviviors: his five children, Denise Henschel, Bernadette Brackett, Rick Henschel, Stephanie Calhoun and husband, Greg and Cynthia Mize; grandchildren, Nick, Neal, Natalie, Nicole, Erik, Ryan, Adam and Hayden; great-grandchildren, Presley, Peyton, Stella, Parker and Sutton; sister, Margaret Dolson; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Henschel.
