Richard Murray Sanford Jr.

October 10, 1958March 10, 2018

Rick Sanford, beloved husband, father, papa and brother, of Euless, TX passed away suddenly on March 10, 2018. He was born on October 10, 1958 in Norwood, MA to Judith (Weeks) and Richard “Dick” Sanford. Rick is survived by his wife and soulmate Teresa Sanford, son Richard Sanford III, daughter Victoria Buckman and son-in-law Nicholas Buckman, granddaughters Bella Ryann Buckman and McKenzie Robin Buckman, sister-in-law Susan Pratt, father-in-law William Pratt and his wife Jeanne; sisters: Shauna McCarty, Jodi McDonough, Ann Rehm, Kara Nawojczyk Laufer; brothers: Mitch Nawojczyk, Stephen Nawojczyk and Nicholas Nawojczyk; nephews: Ronnie Fike, Ian McCarty, Joseph McDonough III, Jason McDonough; nieces: Joy Fike Nelson, Leah McCarty Fiedler, Judy McDonough, Ashley Rehm; aunt Sandra Rushton, aunt and uncle Tom and Polly Weeks, cousins: Rick Boardman, Samantha Knight, Tracy Puopolo, Johnny Puopolo, Katie Puopolo, Michelle Reardon, Denise Galvin, Nicole Albert and Jennifer McCabe. He is preceded in death by his parents Judy and Dick Sanford, sisters: Robin and Heidi Sanford, grandparents: Harold and Gwendolen Weeks and Constantine and Genevieve Pieczkowski, aunts Ann Weeks, Patricia McCarty and uncle Billy Sanford. Rick grew up with four sisters and moved frequently around the country while their father was in the Air Force. Living in Alaska, Florida, Maine and many more states, this close-knit family loved being together and exploring. He was living in Boston in 1978, when he met his future wife. They married five years later June 25, 1983. He was an electrician by trade and always valued the skills and work ethic that were instilled in him by his grandfather and uncle. He started his own successful business, Sanford Enterprises that he re-established after moving to Texas in 1989. Rick and Teresa raised their two children in Grapevine and have many cherished memories of the wonderful friends and neighbors they came to know and love. Rick had a wide range of interests, but he was most consumed and enthralled with genealogy. Over the years, he became quite a detective and helped countless people find lost relatives and research their family trees. Through his constant thirst for knowledge, he unknowingly unlocked hidden treasures in his own family history. He loved spending time with his granddaughters and they were the light of his life. His bigger than life personality leaves a huge hole in the hearts of all who knew him. In his passing his family is learning just how many lives he impacted. Rick always insisted he wanted a party and not a funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held April 7th at 3:00 pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville.

He wanted it to be a happy, casual occasion, blue jeans, Pink Floyd or Harley t-shirts, or bright colors.

In lieu of flowers, please consider researching your own genealogy or signing the Tom Steyer Impeach Trump petition.

Words can't say how sorry I am to learn about Rick's passing. Having known him almost his whole life as he visited during the summers at his Grandparent's home. He was loved by all who met him and enjoyed his company. May the family find the strength to say good bye and know that Rick will find his way to the family that passed before him.
Love to All, Mary (Marsh) Costantino and Family
