Riley James Scott, of Vail, Colorado passed away on February 19, 2018. He will always be remembered as a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend to all that were fortunate enough to cross his path. He was born on March 30, 1988 in Corpus Christi, Texas to David and Leslie Scott. Riley loved the outdoors, snowboarding, hiking, wake boarding, motorcycling and sharing all these adventures with his many friends. Riley never met a stranger and was the first to help anyone in need. He was a great protector of all the girls in his life. Riley had the most infectious smile, thus the nickname Smiley Riley was given to him at a young age. The only thing bigger than his smile was his heart. He gave the best bear hugs and he gave them often and to everyone he encountered. He also loved to hand out a lot of free advice. Riley loved his family and his extended family of friends. He loved to dance and he loved to host people and show them the sights of Colorado. His personality was magnetic and helped him to always land on his feet. He loved to laugh and have fun but mostly to show others a great time. Riley worked hard at his career as he loved being around people. Riley is survived by his parents, David and Leslie Scott of Keller, TX, sister Maggie Scott of Keller, TX, brother Tyler Scott of Grapevine, TX, grandmother Rene Burkhalter of Keller, TX. Aunts and Uncles: Carrie Scott of Houston, TX, Connie and Mike Knight of Houston, TX, Kathryn and Bob Batey of Houston, TX, Debbie and Jim Burkhalter of San Antonio, TX, Joe Petet of Austin, TX and numerous cousins, Brian Petet, Kevin Petet, Robert Burkhalter, Sarah Burkhalter, Hank Burkhalter, Liz Carpenter, Kyle Knight, David Crawford, Ashley Conn, Austin Conn. He was preceded in death by grandparents Larry and Marcille Scott, grandfather, Jim Burkhalter, Aunt Bonnie Petet and Aunt Tracie Merrill. The visitation will be from 6 – 8 o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. The service will be at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 1st, 2018 at the Funeral Home.
