Robert David Gwinn, 79, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Saturday September 12, 2015. Funeral: Friday at 10 am at First Baptist Church – Euless in Euless, Texas. Visitation: Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas. David was born on March 19, 1936 in Wichita Falls, TX to William Harrison Gwinn and Irys Floy Gwinn. A graduate of Handley High School in east Fort Worth, David married his high school sweetheart Melba Jane Rigby in 1955. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in April of this year. A longtime resident of Hurst, David embodied the entrepreneurial spirit of the American businessman. Beginning as a child in John T. White, David worked at several places including a nursery, a dairy, Buddies Grocery Store and for one of his early mentors, Jimmy George. As an adult David held several positions in sales working in the material handling industry and later at a plastics manufacturer. In 1974 he found his true calling and began running Mayco Inc., an industrial wood products business. David grew Mayco into a leading pallet manufacturer in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with a reputation throughout the country. His knowledge of pallet and sawmill equipment and machinery was unprecedented, as well as his ability to adapt and remain successful in an increasingly difficult industry. Mayco celebrated its 41st year of business this year. When David wasn’t working he loved to spend time with his family going to Lake Texoma, traveling to his grandsons’ sporting events, watching the Rangers, Mavericks, and Cowboys and listening to country music on Saturday nights. He loved attending Ranger games at the Ballpark, watching NASCAR at Texas Motor Speedway, and watching the rodeo. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Melba, his daughter Dana Lynn Thomason, his son-in-law Ricky Lee Thomason, his grandson Kyle David Thomason and his wife Jodi Marie Thomason, his sister-in-law Moe Rigby, brothers, Harrison Gene Gwinn and wife Janie, Gary Tex Gwinn, Tommy Dale Gwinn and wife Kathy, as well as many family and friends.
