

Robert Edwin Holder passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014. He was born in Bedford, Texas on January 30, 1924. He graduated from Birdville High School in 1941 and served for 3 years in the 85th Seabees during World War II.
Robert was a real estate broker, builder and developer for over 50 years. He led an active civic life that included serving Hurst and Keller. He helped incorporate the city of Hurst in 1952, served as President of Hurst Civic League in 1953, served as Volunteer Fire Chief of Hurst in 1954 for 5 years and served as Mayor Protem of Hurst for also 5 years. He served as President and was a charter member of Keller Chamber of Commerce and past President of Keller's Lion's Club.
Robert was a member of the Moslah Shrine, past Master of Smithfield Masonic Lodge #455, past President of Keller Lion's Club, and member of the Masons for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Artie, and son, Bobby; two brothers, Herb and Bud, and a sister, Dorothy. He leaves behind a daughter, Stacy Dodson, and son-in-law, Mike Dodson; daughter-in-law, Jackie Holder; sister, Wanda Moore; and brother-in-law, Franklin Plaster. Also left behind to cherish his memories are grandchildren Leah Holder, Todd Holder, Chris and Rachel Bruce, Ami Lunceford, and Jeremy Dodson; great-grandchildren Trevor Petterson, Amanda Whittier, Halle and Addyson Bruce, Bryden and Rivers Lunceford, and many nieces and nephews.
