Robert (Bob) Frank Lane, age 72 of North Richland Hills, walked into the arms of the Lord on Oct. 19, 2017 while enjoying one of his favorite pastimes – traveling the world with his beloved wife, Gloria. Known for building and strengthening churches, Bob’s career in ministry spanned nearly six decades, both at home in Texas -- including 12 years growing North Park Baptist Church in North Richland Hills into a vibrant community and serving as senior pastor for 10 years at Fox Avenue Baptist Church in Lewisville – as well as in communities across the country. Since 1999, he served as Executive Director of The Inquest Group, a national nonprofit devoted to equipping pastors, planters, leaders and missionaries across many denominations with time-tested skills and strategies for effective ministry. Bob was curious about and cared for everyone he met, striking up conversations with total strangers and recalling details about friends & acquaintances he hadn’t seen in years. And the people he knew best loved him dearly; he was an adored husband, father, son, and sibling. He is survived by a large and loving family – mother Oleta Moffitt; his wife of 52 years, Gloria; children Greg (Aimee), Tracey (Clint) and Brad (Liv); siblings Karen Latino (Charles), Michael Moffitt (Cheryl), Stephen Lane (Leanna), Sam Moffitt (Donna), Sally Lane and Phil Lane; and nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by father Frank Lane, stepfather Wilson Moffitt and stepsister Sue Gilley. A visitation will be held Thursday, Nov 2 from 6-8pm at Bluebonnet Hills in Colleyville. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at North Park Baptist Church in North Richland Hills on Saturday, Nov 4 at 1pm, followed by an entombment ceremony at Bluebonnet Hills and then a reception back at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Bob Lane Memorial Fund at North Park Baptist Church (NorthParkNow.com).
