Robert was born on April 4, 1951, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was raised. He attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison and earned his MBA, beginning a long and successful career in leadership.
He dedicated 35 years to PolyOne, formerly known as BF Goodrich, where he served as an HR Director and Plant General Manager. His career took him internationally, including serving as General Manager of the company’s plant in Venezuela. It was there that he met the love of his life, Olga. They were married in Long Beach, California, and would have celebrated 30 years of marriage this year.
Robert found his greatest joy in his family. He was a proud and devoted grandfather, affectionately known as “Yupi” to his four grandchildren, Julianna, Adrian, Javier, and Andres. He loved spending time with them and being an active and playful presence in their lives.
He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and for time with friends and family. He especially looked forward to his annual fishing trips to Canada and trips with Olga. He enjoyed playing tennis and driving his Corvette. Robert had a strong love for music and was known for his great playlists.
A man of strong Lutheran faith, Robert remained grounded in his beliefs throughout his life. In his final days, he found comfort through visits from his pastor and in his relationship with the Lord. On his 75th birthday, he shared that while he loved his family deeply, he loved Jesus more and was ready to go home to Him. His family finds peace in knowing he passed with that faith and assurance, surrounded by love.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Olga Radtke; his sons, Javier Valencia and Carlos Valencia; his daughters-in-law, Annissa and Yormanda; his four beloved grandchildren; and his sisters, Susie Delonge and Louise Bockelmann. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Robert Radtke.
A funeral service will be held at Crown of Life Lutheran Church on May 5, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Robert will later be laid to rest in his hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, beside his parents. He will be remembered for his leadership, warmth, sense of humor, and his deep love for his family and his faith.
